Omaha’s Guns & Hoses Hockey Challenge

Save the Date: March 14th, 2027!

The Guns & Hoses Hockey Challenge RETURNS on March 14, 2027 at Baxter Arena! Don’t miss this family-fun red vs. blue competition featuring local first responders!

Come watch local police and firefighters compete on ice for a good cause. This entertaining, family-friendly event will feature exciting hockey play, vendor booths, giveaways, fun intermissions, themed drinks, and more for just $17 a ticket!

Know a kid who LOVES everything first responders? This is the perfect family outing. Get up close with real first responder gear and enjoy our expanded Kids Zone, featuring extra fun like airbrush tattoos, face painting, balloon artists, special guests and activities—plus plenty of excitement for all ages. Kids 2 and under are FREE.

Other Important Tips:

  • Baxter Arena has a Clear Bag Policy and requires patrons to pass through metal detectors.
  • Concessions are credit card ONLY.
  • Families of Infants/Toddlers: Breast pumps are allowed, but diapers and other baby supplies must be in a clear bag. Strollers are allowed on the concourse but not in the stands.
  • Doors will open at 2:00pm. There will be lots to see before the puck drops, so come early to check out all the festivities.
  • Bring cash for raffle tickets!

Local police and firefighters compete on ice for a good cause: supporting the First Responders Foundation! This entertaining, family-friendly event will skate back into Baxter Arena on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 3:00pm!

Will Team Red be the reigning champions, or will Team Blue take the trophy in 2026? See it for yourself!

Bring the crew out to cheer on first responders and enjoy an epic event with lots of fun scheduled on AND off the ice.

Kids will love to check out all the cool first responder vehicles parked out front, the exciting hockey play, vendor booths with giveaways, the chuck-a-puck intermission activity, and all the fun planned at our Kids Zone!
