Position Summary

A NE state licensed mental health therapist to work 40 hrs/week with first responders, couples and adolescents. Provide mental health services to first responders and families to impact changes leading to growth and healing. Focus needs to include trauma. Specialties can include substance use, couples or children therapy.

Job Duties

Provide individual sessions as need based on demand. Create and continuously review and update program participants’ symptoms and behaviors and adjust treatment/program and safety plan and required documentation accordingly.

Be available for crisis and consultation support for first responders and their families.

Maintain accurate, electronic clinical records of services provided per established by foundation and HIPPA standards. Complete documentation within established timeframes, including collecting appropriate signatures, registration forms, etc. Sign off, discharge per program plan.

Timely completion of provider enrollment forms and reports needed for third party payers or other outside entities.

Business Development through a positive working relationship with agencies throughout Nebraska, including fire, EMS, law enforcement, corrections, dispatch, and medical personnel.

Assist in the promotion of First Responders Foundation mission, services, workshops, and trainings.

Administer or co-administer Workshops / classes for families and teens.

Must have excellent, verbal, and written communication skills, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, organizational skills, ability to prioritize, time management skills, and above all an ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Awareness and sensitivity of the organization’s constituents and populations served by employees.

Must show cultural competence involving first responders. Ability to integrate cultural considerations into service delivery.

Ability to document using electronic health records.

Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.

Participate in monthly clinical meetings, consultation, and routine clinical supervision.

Maintain regular and predictable attendance, and promptness for work.

Commitment to uphold the mission, vision, and values of First Responders Foundation.

Education and Experience

Master’s degree from an accredited university in a counseling that meets licensure requirements.

Valid Nebraska Driver’s license, proof of liability insurance, and ability to drive for work.

Demonstrated competencies to work with population in a variety of skills and modalities.

License Requirements

Must have a Nebraska mental health or social work licensure to practice clinical work.

Dual licensure in Iowa a plus. Coverage of fees to become dual licensed in the first year.

Licensure must remain current and in good standing.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

A hybrid work environment (office and field setting, including zoom/telehealth, and office locations).

Reliable transportation (work-related travel between sites as needed).

Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, or on-call or as needed for client care, program demand, and supervisor requests.

Occasional lifting of office items no more than twenty-five pounds.
